UPDATE (9:55 a.m.): The Prichard Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday morning, according to officials.
Officials said 67-year-old Ethel Moore Thomas was killed when she was shot while sitting in her home on Sample Street.
LOCATION:
“Unknown subjects drove by her residence and started firing into her home while she and her husband were sound asleep in bed,” read a PPD release.
Thomas was hit through her bedroom and was pronounced dead on the scene.

PRICHARD, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Prichard Police are investigating a homicide on Sample Street. They were called to the area around 6 Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson told News 5 that a woman was killed.
