Prichard, Mobile County officials vow to end gang violence after 3 shootings within hours

PRICHARD, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The Prichard Police Department and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office are speaking out about gang violence after three shootings into homes and vehicles happened within hours of each other this morning.

Sheriff Paul Burch and PPD Lt. Robert Martin held a press conference this morning following the three incidents.

“We are investigating three shootings that occurred in our area between the hours of four and six a.m.,” said Martin. “This last shooting, is really sentimental because this lady, she unfortunately lost her life.”

  • The first shooting happened in the 1200 block of Clara Avenue. Officials said a young man was sleeping in his car when he was awakened by gunfire hitting the vehicle. He was not injured, according to authorities.
  • The second shooting happened in the 600 block of Mt. Sinai Avenue. According to officials, a young woman was home with her kids and had to get on the floor when gunshots hit her home. No one was injured in the incident.
