Mobile woman at center of two federal indictments too dangerous to release, feds argue

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Federal prosecutors on Monday asked a federal judge to revoke an order allowing a woman charged in a massive drug conspiracy to go free pending trial. For now, Echandza Dianca Maxie remains locked up in Mobile County Metro Jail. The 41-year-old Mobile woman faces two indictments, one alleging that she participated in her husband’s drug distribution organization and one accusing her of bilking the federal government out of at least $400,000 through schemes to defraud COVID-19 relief programs.
