MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – The News 5 First Alert Storm Team is watching one area in the central Atlantic. It does not pose a threat to the News 5 area. This area is in the central Atlantic about 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, and it has a high chance of developing over the next seven days. It will likely develop into a depression during the first half of next week. The next name on the list is Ernesto. Current forecast models keep a trough along the east coast of the US allowing for the system to turn north into the northern Atlantic. Since this system has yet to develop, though, we could see changes, so stay tuned to updates from our team!
