According to a city news release, the design of the new seal, which was unveiled during an Aug. 8 city council meeting, “reflects the city’s commitment to the ideals of ‘live, work, and play’ and prominently features the dual taglines ‘Gateway to Progress’ and ‘Community of Service,’ underlining Saraland’s dedication to growth and community service.”

The two photos below show the difference in the city seal. The seal on the left is the old Saraland city seal, and the one shown on the right is the newly released version.

The new seal depicts three symbols that officials said reflect the balance of life in the city: a school, a church and a house.
