Faith Time: Making a church the centerpiece of the community

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Joining us this morning is pastor Corey Brown with W3 Baptist Church. We wanted to talk about making the church the centerpiece of the community. How do you define that, first of all?

Guest: Well, from its origins of New Testament church, the church has always been by design to be the centerpiece of the community.

And so out of the church flows faith and family and finances and everything. So that’s what we define as the centerpiece.

Anchor: Talk to me about community development. How do you work that into the mission of the church?

Guest: Well, it goes back again into its origins. So by design, everything flows out of the church. So the community is really developed based on the fundamental beliefs of the church.

Anchor: One of the things that your church has done through community development is adopting an apartment complex. Can you talk a little bit more about what your church did in that regard?

Guest: Well, we were able to take on a tiny apartment complex that was drug infested, crime riddled and able to adapt, but that particular complex and bring resources into that apartment and help those residents experience a better life.
