Why Mobile will have a Mardi Gras parade in August

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mardi Gras 2024 may have already passed, but the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the National Institute for Jail Operations are preparing to host a parade.

According to an MCSO press release, the parade is set as the National Institute for Jail Operations has its Southern Regional Conference at Mobile’s Renaissance Riverview Hotel and the Mobile Convention Center from Aug. 27-29.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said in the release that they are hosting the event and that the parade is part of a “big ‘MOBILE WELCOME.’”

The parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28. The parade, which the release said will begin at Fort Conde and end at Mardi Gras Park, will feature Conde Cavaliers floats.
