LCU Drop Two Matches In Mobile Rams Invitationals

The LCU Lady Wildcats (0-3) dropped both matches in the second day of the Rams Invitational in Mobile, Alabama. LCU lost 3-0 to Southeastern (FL) and 3-1 Dillard University in the evening matchup.

Despite the two losses, Leah Stamps became the Lady Wildcats all-time digs leader according to the Louisiana Christian University Athletic website. Stamps reached the milestone in the first matchup of the day against Southeastern (FL). Stamps currently sits at 865 digs after todays two matches.

Southeastern (FL) 3, LCU 0 (20-25, 13-25, 20-25)

The Southeastern Fire of Lakeland, Florida swept the LCU Lady Wildcats 3-0 sets in the first match of the second day of the University of Mobile tournament. Abby Revell led the Lady Wildcats with 6 kills. Emma Cother led assists with 15. Jessica Smith served two aces for the Wildcats. Katie Spell and Mallory Wills each had 3 block assists. Stamps once again led the digs category with 21.

The Fire tried to run away early in the first pushing a 3-1 lead but LCU stayed close to tie and move back to a one point lead at 4-3. The two were knotted at 6-6 before Southeastern went on a 7-1 run which included three kills from Cambry Pope and gave the fire a 13-7 lead. LCU got back into the match and closed in to 14-11 on errors made by the Fire. Pope rallied Southeastern again on a 7-2 run and their lead expande to 21-13. Katie Spell’s assisted block with Mallory Wills followed by an ace by Spell kept the Lady Wildcats in the set at 21-16. Southeastern held on for the 25-20 first set win.
