A nearly finished master plan for the new Civil Rights and Cultural Heritage District was just shared with the community, and it’s getting a lot of love.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue—once the heart of a thriving Black business district—is getting a makeover.

Now, with plans to bring back its past vibrancy, the area will be a key part of the district.
Projects like the new Isom Clemon Civil Rights Memorial Park and the conversion of an old segregation-era library into the Historic Avenue Cultural Center are already in the works.
