Mobile man arrested in Azalea Pointe Apartments homicide investigation: MPD

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Mobile man is accused of murdering another man Monday night at a local apartment complex, according to Mobile Police.

According to an MPD news release, officers responded to Azalea Pointe Apartments at 651 Azalea Road on Monday around 11:42 p.m. for a homicide investigation.

The release said officers arrived at the scene and found a man dead inside an apartment with blunt-force trauma injuries.

Detectives reportedly learned during an investigation that two men were involved in a discussion about the suspect’s girlfriend, and the suspect then struck the victim with a hammer.

20-year-old Jaylen Dienell Tyus was identified as the suspect and located on Tuesday, police said. He was then arrested and taken to Metro Jail.

Tyus is accused of murder and is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 11, News 5 has learned.
