Head coach reacts to 77-point loss

It certainly wasn’t pretty tonight for the Northwestern State Demons.

Granted, they were heavy underdogs against South Alabama, with some sportsbooks expecting them to lose by 37. That said, I don’t think too many people thought the Jaguars were 77 points better.

That’s the way things unfolded in Mobile on Thursday night. South Alabama defeated Northwestern State 87-10.

We should give a shoutout to Northwestern State Head Coach and former LSU Tiger Blaine McCorkle for sticking around after the game to field questions. It’s no simple task, but he’s consistently been a solid guy!

“Those games are tough….We played two [FBS Schools] in 14 days – two good ones. At the end of the day, I have to take the blame for that. I didn’t have my guys ready to go. Lesson learned on my part. Way back, I agreed – and it was my decision – to play them on a Thursday. It’s probably not the best decision to play an FBS team on a five-day week. Lesson learned by me… as our team grows through this thing and our team is growing and learning through it, I have to learn, too. There’s nothing good about tonight except you lose or you learn. Hopefully there are more things we’ve learned about our staff and our program and how our players will learn from adversity.”
