Containers ships anchored, unable to unload due to strike

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) – Members of the International Longshoremen’s Association hit the picket lines at the entrances of the state docks in Mobile for a third day on Thursday. The ILA strike is shutting down activity at ports from Maine to Texas. At least 45 container vessels have not been able to unload along the East Coast and Gulf Coast. As of this publication, four vessels are parked at the entrance to Mobile’s shipping channel in the Gulf. Two are container vessels. One is general cargo and the other is a bulk carrier. Alabama Trucking Association President Mark Colson says tens of thousands of truckers up and down the coasts are also sidelined by this strike.
