ONLY ON NEWS 5: Woman accused of leading Prichard police on chase shares her side of the story

PRICHARD, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Genesis Tanksley allegedly led Prichard police on a chase to Daphne after officers were called to her husband’s house Monday morning.

She believes that her husband tried to set her up during a custody exchange, and now, she wants to share her side of the story.

Tanksley said the morning of Monday, Oct. 7, started badly when she went to her husband’s house in Prichard to drop off their 4-year-old son.

When she arrived at his house, she said her husband immediately called the police—leading to an altercation with officers once they arrived at the house.

“He came straight at me into my car, and he tried to like, well, he actually did he throw his handcuffs around my left arm,” Tanksley recounted. “And then he was forcing me to get out of the car, you know, ‘Get out of the car. Get out of the car!’ He said, ‘If you don’t get out of the car, I’m going to break your arm.’”

Prichard police said their officers were preparing to arrest Tanksley and her husband for domestic violence, but Tanksley who is pregnant, said the officer tried to tase her.
