Small step toward beautifying Dauphin Island Parkway

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Part of the Dauphin Island Parkway landscape just received a facelift as part of one organization’s efforts to revitalize the area.

On the corner of Dauphin Island Parkway and Gulf Dale Drive sits three nicely planted palm trees that were put by the organization, Revitalize DIP.

Mobile Airport Authority’s president resigns

“This is one of the smallest steps to make the changes and great things that will come along the parkway,” Mobile City Council president CJ Small said.

Their mission is to help bring up an area that doesn’t always get the best reputation.

Revitalize DIP President and Former FBI Agent Yvette Young said they’ve been working with police ever since a precinct was built there in 2022, and they’ve seen crime rates decrease.

“Our three objectives are crime, blight and litter,” Young said. “I’m just so happy that we’re getting the attention because one of the messages we wanted to send out was we want the community at large to know what was happening on South DIP because a lot of people have a different opinion and perspective of what they believe it is.”
