General Election Day – What to know before heading to the polls (with sample ballots)

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Millions of people are heading to the polls on Nov. 5, but there are a few things everyone should know ahead of casting their ballot.

General Voting Information

  • Polls are scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
  • To vote you must be 18 or older and be registered to vote.
  • Hand-in absentee ballots were due by Monday, Nov. 4, but mail-in absentee ballots are due by noon on election day.
  • Voters may wear campaign buttons or T-shirts with political advertisements to polling places but may not loiter or leave campaign material.
  • Sample ballots can be carried into the voting booth, but voters are asked not to leave the sample ballot at the polling place.
  • Voters are not required to vote on constitutional amendments or all races on the ballot.
  • Cell phones are allowed inside the polling place but should not disturb other voters or the polling place.
  • Mobile County Public Schools will have a virtual learning day on Tuesday, as multiple schools will serve as polling places.
