Mobile Co. lawmaker considers proposing legislation to identify violent juvenile offenders

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) – Alabama law protects the identities of juveniles accused of violent crimes, but lawmakers and prosecutors are questioning if they should be shielded. On Halloween night, a 15-year-old was shot and killed on Arcturus Lane. A 17-year-old is charged with his murder and is currently in Metro Jail, but a law passed in 2021 makes it illegal to publish his name or mugshot, leaving the public in the dark about the case.
