Baldwin County hoping for push in Small Business Saturday

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The rush of holiday shopping is underway, and retailers want you to think about where you buy things.

This weekend marks the 14th anniversary of Small Business Saturday. We stopped by small shop owners who hope to make big returns this season. Tucked away off Highway 104 in Silverhill sits the Mother-Daughter Market . It’s a quaint shop with a big selection they hope gets attention.

“For our business personally, we do monthly events, so we hopefully create a little bit of urgency, but we also really try to make sure that everything is priced affordable for people,” Co-owner Jennifer Purvis said. Normally opened monthly, they’ve increased their hours to twice a week this season to give more people time to shop.

“You know, I think I love most of the customers, but also getting able to work with my mom doing it. We are able to go to market and really furnish and bring really beautiful home decor,” Purvis said.

Some shoppers say they try to focus on shopping local so they can stay better connected to the people they know.
