The Mississippi State Bulldogs earned a big-time transfer portal commitment from Freshman All-American running back Fluff Bothwell.
The former South Alabama playmaker rushed for 832 yards and 13 touchdowns on 111 carries this past season. Bothwell was On3’s No. 47 ranked prospect in their transfer portal rankings and third at the running back position.
The 5-foot-11, 219-pound back was named third-team All-Sun Belt. He also visited Ole Miss after announcing his transfer portal intentions before committing to Mississippi State.
The Oneonta, Alabama product chose South Alabama over offers from Austin Peay, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, Navy, North Alabama and others. In the 247Sports composite rankings last year, he was the No. 155 running back and ranked 2,165th overall.
South Alabama split their backfield between Bothwell and Kentrel Bullock. The latter rushed for 831 yards and seven touchdowns on 152 carries.
Bothwell had his most productive game in the Jaguars’ matchup against Northwestern State. In the team’s 87-10 win, Bothwell rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
