‘Puppies are safe’: MPD searching for person who threw puppies off Dog River Bridge

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Two puppies are safe after being thrown from the Dog River Bridge Saturday afternoon, and the search is on for the responsible party.

News 5 received calls from viewers about the incident after 3:30 p.m. Witnesses say the driver of a black SUV pulled over, turned on their hazard lights, and threw the puppies into the cold waters of Dog River. We’re also told people immediately went out on kayaks to try and save them.

Thanks to the work of MPD and Daphne Search and Rescue, the two puppies were found safe. Anyone with information about the person, or persons responsible, is asked to call Mobile Police at 251-208-7211.
