‘We are giving Amazon … a tax cut’: Mayor slams Alabama’s online sales tax system

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson blasted Alabama’s distribution model for Internet sales taxes on Thursday, calling it “the worst thing” the city faces economically and reignited a long-time dispute over whether the tax is disbursed equitably.

“The long-term impact to that is probably the worst thing (that could occur) to the City of Mobile,” Stimpson said during the 27th annual State of the City/County Address hosted by the Mobile Chamber on Thursday…
