BAY MINETTE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The news of the deadly shooting at Florida State University frightened one Bay Minette man until he received a phone call from his granddaughter, an FSU student, letting him know she was OK.

News 5’s Akievia McFarland spoke with that man, former Bay Minette Police Chief Bruce Lovett, who said his granddaughter is shaken up after the shooting.
“She was in another building, and she heard cursing and gunshots, and she took cover underneath or behind the desk in one of the classrooms,” Lovett said.
