FAIRHOPE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Fairhope Public Utilities has reported multiple sanitary sewer overflows following a heavy rain event on May 9 and 10.

Officials said approximately 5 inches of rainfall occurred quickly, overwhelming the Doghouse and Valley Lift Stations.
Sanitary sewer overflows on Friday between 7 and 9 p.m. and on Saturday at a manhole between 5:30 and 8 a.m. led to a discharge that could affect Cowpen Creek, according to officials.
