According to court documents, 72-year-old Roy Powell, pastor of Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church in Saraland, Alabama, was arrested after allegedly robbing and pistol-whipping a man. The unidentified victim told KMVT that he was simply walking down Mobile Street when Powell bumped into him. The two exchanged words, with Powell allegedly saying, “You was in my way, I’m walking down the sidewalk.” After the brief confrontation, Powell reportedly left the scene. But, it didn’t end there.
The victim says minutes later, Powell pulled back up in a truck—this time armed. That’s when things escalated. Powell allegedly struck the man in the head with a gun and took his book bag at gunpoint.

Court records show that Powell actually returned to the scene again—this time to apologize. But that didn’t stop the legal system from stepping in. Powell was reportedly arrested on Wednesday, May 28, and charged with first-degree robbery. He was released the next day on a $40,000 bond.
