Mobile County’s first doxing prosecution ends with conviction on different charge

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Grand Bay woman pleaded guilty Thursday, but prosecutors will have to wait for their first conviction on a doxing charge.

Catherine Elizabeth Rogers, 42, was the first person charged in Mobile County under the doxing statute passed in 2023. On Thursday, though, she and prosecutors agreed to a guilty plea to a misdemeanor harassing communications charge. Mobile County District Judge George Zoghby imposed a suspended three-month sentence and ordered the defendant to be on probation for a year.

The judge also ordered Rogers not to have any contact with the victims or her son, which prompted a protest from the defendant. A custody dispute led to the criminal charge. Prosecutors said Rogers posted an accusation on Facebook that a couple molested the child.
