Whistler teenager accused of shooting brother to be tried as adult

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Whistler teenager accused of fatally shooting his little brother will face trial as an adult, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Jy’Quavious Keshun Hill, 16, pleaded not guilty to reckless manslaughter. Mobile County Circuit Judge Michael Windom set a disposition hearing for next week and indicated he will take up the question of whether he should be entitled to bail.

Hill had asked to be treated as a “youthful offender,” which could have sealed his case and capped his punishment at no more than three years in prison. Alabama law allows anyone younger than 21 at the age of an offense to be considered by youthful offender status…
