MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Bankhead and Wallace tunnels will close during the next two weeks as crews perform routine inspections.

According to an Alabama Department of Transportation news release, the inspections are required every two years to maintain the safety and reliability of the tunnels.
The closures will be done overnight to reduce the impact on traffic, but drivers during those times should plan and use alternate routes, the release said.
