FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Airport Road and County Road 65 in Foley is synonymous with tragedy.
Hammer attack in Mobile prompts arrest, police say
“We’ve seen people dead in the road,” said Love Sisco, who lives a block from the intersection.
Most recently, she watched the aftermath of a deadly wreck where two teens on a scooter were killed instantly after being hit from behind on County Road 65 just south of the intersection, and residents are begging for something to be done to make the area safer. “Why can’t we get that here on the deadliest corner in Baldwin County,” asked Sisco.
Two weeks after the county transferred ownership of a section of County Road 65 to the city, safety improvements have begun, starting with new street lights.
“I love the lights,” said Cynthia May, who lives on the corner. “I just need them to make drivers aware that this is so busy.”
North and south of the intersection, digital signs warn motorists of a four-way stop that is coming soon. “I’m really looking forward to the speed limit coming down,” added May.
