MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Mobile is getting creative trying to reach young people before they commit violent acts. The city is making a youth violence prevention film for its ‘You Still Have a Choice’ program that targets middle schoolers. Those behind the project say this isn’t your typical public service announcement. On Friday night crews filmed a fight scene and even used blanks to fire a round to make it realistic to get young people’s attention.
“Nowadays, you only have so much time to make an impact before they get bored or don’t want to watch. So, like, giving them something that feels more real or feels more impactful keeps them engaged,” said Keli Shirazi, Mobile Film Office Director.
