FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) – A dangerous intersection in Foley has already seen several safety improvements since the city took over that section of County Road 65 from Baldwin County. Streetlights now light up the intersection at night and electronic signs warn drivers of a coming 4-way stop.
Cynthia May and her dog, Utanasoqu…Cherokee for “Big Horse” live at the corner of County Road 65 and Airport Road. She’s lived there long enough to witness the tragedy the intersection has become known for, not only with the loss of human life but also the life of her other dog just two weeks ago.
“I’ve only lived here a year and saw too much in one year and we’re not talking about the ones that were hit last year and ten years ago, so it’s a long time coming,” May said.
Just in the last year, a hit and run claimed the life of a female pedestrian and then two teens died when their scooter was hit by a pickup truck. It’s an area where an isolated stretch of County Road 65 meets a populated area that sees a lot of pedestrian traffic…
