MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A teenager accused of starting a gunfight at a high school graduation party in May opened fire after another teenager had put down his weapon, according to testimony at a preliminary hearing Thursday.
Archie Niles Jr., an investigator with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, testified that Jaylon Rivers took offense to a comment that Zachary Morgan made about a local rapper who died in Prichard last year. Both teenagers were armed, Niles testified, but he said that Morgan put down his gun and prepared to fight.
“No, I’m not gonna fight,” the detective said, quoting what witnesses told investigators that Rivers said. “I’m gonna shoot.”…
