Watching the Gulf for possible development this week; Toasty Tuesday ahead

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —

TROPICS: We continue to keep a close eye on the tropics. The disturbance that is off the Florida east coast has been labeled Invest 93L. That means the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is simply investigating it. This will allow hurricane models to have a look and we’ll start to get a better picture as we move forward. At this point, NHC gives 93L a low (30%) chance of developing as it moves west into the northeastern Gulf in the coming days. It’s too early to say where this will eventual go or what will become of it. Regardless of any development, a surge in tropical moisture across the northern Gulf Coast could lead to heavy rain and flooding concerns here mid to late week. Also, the risk of rip currents will rise. By Wednesday yellow flags are likely with red flags likely by Thursday. If this does develop and get a name, the next on the list is Dexter.
