Mobile man sentenced for 2021 murder

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man has been sentenced after he was found guilty of a 2021 homicide.

Lee County man now in custody, Mobile FBI says

According to a news release from Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood, 28-year-old Victor Roland was found guilty of the intentional murder of Derrick Carson by a judge in April.

He was sentenced to life in prison.

Carson was walking down Middle Ring Road in Mobile on July 3, 2021, when Roland drove up and fired multiple shots at him. Carson tried to run, but only got a few hundred feet away before he died, the release said.

“There is no excuse for Victor Roland’s actions. This was a cruel and senseless act of violence,” Blackwood said. “A sentence of life in prison is just and appropriate for the deliberate taking of life.”…
