Motive in Christmas Day Theodore slaying unclear, but prosecutor says it was ‘brutal’

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The circumstances surrounding Tommy Fabian’s death on Christmas Day in Theodore remain unclear, but this much is clear from testimony Monday: It was violent.

“The cause of death is pretty brutal, I’ll say that,” Mobile County Chief Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Susman said following a preliminary hearing for defendant Gregory Vanness Jowers.

Mobile County District Judge Jennifer Wright ruled prosecutors have enough evidence to present murder, first-degree assault and robbery charges to a grand jury. She separately found him guilty of a misdemeanor domestic violence menacing charge and sentenced him to a year in jail…
