MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — News 5 Investigates claims that children in Alabama’s foster care system are being forced to sleep inside Department of Human Resources (DHR) offices, including in Mobile.

A foster parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said she had heard about children staying overnight at the DHR office on Airport Boulevard. It didn’t hit home until a child told her their own experience.
“He was brought in and was told they were making calls to see if they could find placement for this child. And he ended up staying overnight for two nights,” she said. “He said there was a lot of crying. There was a lot of kids that were upset because they were scared.”
The foster parent said some children were sleeping in conference rooms with others ranging from ages 5 to 17…
