Mobile woman sentenced for tax fraud: DOJ

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile woman has been sentenced to federal prison for tax fraud.

According to a release from the Department of Justice, Carrie Mae Jones will serve two years in federal prison for her role in filing fraudulent tax returns.

From 2019 to 2022, Jones operated Agee’s Outreach Tax Service and Royalty Queen Tax Service. According to court documents, she acted as a “ghost preparer” of at least 34 false or fraudulent tax returns in her role.

In addition to her prison sentence, she has also been ordered to pay $419,452 in restitution, as well as one year of supervised release after her sentence, the release said…
