Alabama officials urge water safety after three drownings in weekend incidents

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is urging the public to take extra precautions on the water after three people drowned over the weekend in separate incidents across the state.

According to ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, the drownings happened on Fowl River in Mobile County, Smith Lake in Winston County, and Wilson Lake in Lauderdale County. None of the deaths were related to boating, but officials say the tragedies highlight how quickly a fun day in the water can turn dangerous.
