MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – An accused drug dealer whose lawyer admitted to using artificial intelligence to draft a legal filing wants a new attorney – himself.
U.S. District Judge Terry Moorer removed James Johnson from the case earlier this month, and then a magistrate judge appointed Jason Darley to take over Glennie Antonio “Little Man” McGee’s representation.
But McGee indicated in a handwritten letter from jail that he wants to represent himself. McGee did not elaborate on his rationale, but he cited a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case from the 1970s that established the right of criminal defendants to act as their own lawyers…
