UPDATE (July 30, 6:39 p.m.): In court for the first time since being arrested, Valarie Bonner, 54, faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after the body of a man was found inside her Alison Pointe Apartment earlier this week. Prosecutors say he had been there for 10 to 14 days.
“She said the deceased died from a possible overdose and she didn’t want us to know because she felt like she was going to get in trouble,” said Foley Police Lt. Tony Fuqua. But that’s not all she did to try to conceal the death, according to Fuqua. “She took the victim’s wallet and cell phone and threw it away to keep us from knowing who it was.”
That, according to police, is tampering with evidence; the abuse of a corpse charge comes from Bonner not reporting the death. “And she allowed the victim to lay in her apartment and decompose,” said Fuqua…
