Broken elevator at Mobile complex affects senior citizens

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)—Senior citizens at a Mobile apartment complex have been without an elevator for weeks, leaving those who have trouble using the stairs in a tough situation.

WKRG News 5 spoke with one of the seniors who lives on the third floor of the complex and can’t use the stairs without help. On most days, she’s now stuck inside.

Jocelyn Banks, a 71-year-old Mobile native, has lived in Baptist Oaks Apartments on Conti Street in Mobile for nearly four years.

“I started looking around for apartments and I found Baptist Oaks,” Banks said. “I was kind of familiar with it because I used to work at CVS just across the street.”…
