MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)—As the opioid crisis continues to ravage cities and towns across the country, $2 million is being awarded to local organizations to help combat the epidemic.
Gulf Shores pizzeria closes doors during political dispute
On Wednesday, civic leaders and a local non-profit gathered for the start of a new initiative they believe will reduce stigma and increase awareness of local resources in the community. A project two years in the making will now soon impact dozens of lives along our stretch of the Gulf Coast.
Project Persevere is a community-based initiative aimed at helping people persist through their opioid addiction. The new initiative is awarding 16 Mobile organizations with over $2 million in opioid abatement funding for their programs.
