MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) — Firefighters with the Toulminville Fire Station and a few volunteers went above and beyond the line of duty to help a Mobile man and his elderly mom.
Mobile daycare worker indicted on child abuse charge
Gwendolyn Stokes has lived in Mobile for five years with her son Robert, but this isn’t your average mother-son duo.
Robert is autistic, diabetic, and an amputee, so maneuvering up the front porch steps was pretty close to impossible for Mrs. Stokes. Due to Robert’s limitations, she had to call on the help of local first responders for Robert’s medical appointments.
“The firemen and the ambulance drivers, they had such a tough time getting Robert in and out of the house,” Mrs. Stokes said. “Every time I felt so bad when I called them because they couldn’t get him down the steps, and it took all of them.”…
