According to a MAWSS news release, the break was discovered this morning by crews who were responding to a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition fault. Located at 685 Schillinger Road, on the Thomas Road side, the broken force main led to approximately 255 gallons of wastewater overflowing into Second Creek.

MAWSS crews fixed the force main and took steps to prevent it from happening at that location again, the release said.

Residents are urged to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that might have accumulated from the overflow, the release said. Anyone who comes into contact with overflow water should wash their hands and clothes thoroughly.
