MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The city of Mobile has officially broken ground on a new fire station that will replace one of its oldest facilities.

Station 19, also known as the McCosker Station, has served the Azalea Road area for 68 years. City leaders say the aging building is no longer meeting the needs of a modern fire department.
The new facility, expected to cost nearly $4.6 million, will be built just a few hundred yards from the current station on the former site of Greystone School.
