Changes coming soon to Airport Boulevard’s traffic light signals

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Mobile is moving forward with the next phase of its multi-year traffic light project, this time focusing on one of the busiest stretches in town: Airport Boulevard.

“A few years ago, we entered into the program with ALDOT to retime and bring communication to all of the traffic signals inside the city limits and outside the city limits,” City of Mobile Traffic Engineering Director Jennifer White said.

In February, the Alabama Department of Transportation finished retiming more than 680 traffic signals across Mobile intersections. White said the work is far from done.

“This project is like a second phase of it,” White said. “It’s replacing the cabinet that all the equipment is in, because those cabinets are 20 to 30 years old.”…
