A storm that would inherit the name Katrina emerged near the Florida Coast on August 23rd, 2005.

By the time the storm reached the warm waters of the Central Gulf Coast, it had swelled to a category 5 storm… dipping down to a category three hurricane before making landfall in South Louisiana…
