Former Mobile commissioner Freeman Jockisch dies at 80

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Freeman Jockisch, former District 2 commissioner for Mobile County, has passed away at the age of 80 according to a funeral announcement by Ascension Funeral Home.

Jockisch served on the commission for more than a decade before federal convictions on tax and ethics charges prompting him to step down. In 2013 Jockisch was charged and convicted on child enticement charges. He was sentenced to 10 years in 2014 and was released from federal custody in October 2022.

According to the obituary, Jockisch passed away on August 13 at the age of 80. He is survived by 4 children and 9 nine grandchildren…
