Mobile eyes reconfiguration of Water Street to open access to waterfront

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The City Council on Tuesday reviewed a proposal to study how to make Water Street more pedestrian-friendly.

City officials say cars now fly off the Interstate 10 exit ramp, making crossing Water Street dicey.

The $829,923 contract would authorize Volkert Inc. to study how best to proceed and how much it would cost. The council is expected to vote on it next week…
