Stimpson administration picks new company to run The Wave bus service in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s administration has selected Via Transportation to take over bus service in the city.

The Mobile City Council, which has to approve the choice, will take up the issue next week.

Transdev, which currently operates the service, was one of four companies to bid on a new contract. The administration settled on Via, which runs the MoGo service for the Mobile Chamber. Via will receive about $8 million in city funds and other $4.1 million from the federal government.
