University of South Alabama sees record freshman class

MOBILE, Ala. — The University of South Alabama welcomed its largest freshman class in history this fall, marking its third consecutive year of enrollment growth. The university’s total enrollment has risen to 14,285 students, up from 14,003 the previous year.

The university’s freshman enrollment has surged more than 30 percent over the past three years, partly due to extensive recruitment efforts. The enrollment team conducted 750 visits to high schools and off-campus events last year, including 51 Jag Days, where students are transported to campus on Jaguar Athletics buses.

This year’s freshman class is also among the most academically talented, with a record-tying average high school GPA of 3.75. Additional data highlights significant growth in various colleges within the university. The Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences saw a 27% increase in students, the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions experienced a 15% rise in undergraduate students, and the College of Engineering reported a 9% increase in undergraduate enrollment.
