Foley intersection sees upgrades after deadly scooter crash, driver arrested

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Over the last several months, the intersection of County Road 65 and Airport Road has undergone several traffic safety improvements, but at a heavy price.

“It’s just sad that there were lives that were taken to get to this point,” said Cynthia May, who lives nearby.

In April, two cousins were killed when their scooter was rear-ended by a truck allegedly driven by 21-year-old Christopher Mendoza.

He has been arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide after a Baldwin County Grand Jury reviewed the case. Foley Police said he was speeding at the time of the wreck.
